Reality goes as such: Systems become unstable when new things are introduced to them; sometimes right away, sometimes later. All machines are subject to the vagaries of entropy, and as such malfunction or flat out break at times. In both cases fixing needs to happen to make the issue resolve. This means a system or machine has to be brought to a stop in order to perform maintenance. If you are skeptical about this I invite you to try changing the oil on your car sometime while it's still running, or better yet the alternator. It is dark here. You are likely to be eaten by a grue. |
